Mondoco Winter Chill

For those who missed it previously- mondoco winter chill mix. Spent many years listening to acoustic, ambient, chillout tracks and this is my first nod towards compiling a mix solely of these genres with a few hard to define styles in between. My original idea was simply to arrange tracks which I would enjoy listening to before going to bed as I often struggle to get to sleep. I planned to only have acoustic tracks and suchlike without any drum patterns but eventually I digressed somewhat and ended up with this. (85% to plan but just couldn't do without the likes of Transmission and Schneider TM.)

MondoCo Winter Chill 2oo9

Ideal for late night listening trying to get the bodyclock back in order for returning to work.

Happy Hallowe'en

Well made these two mixes for hallowe'en last year but didn't really give them proper play other than to myself. Idea behind was just to put quick demo together and feature a broad range of 'spooky' songs while not being too obvious (though didn't quite achieve this I've realised on listening back).

Rock and Roll Will Never Die

Out shopping today and had my usual look in Urban Outfitters at the small, quick turn around display of music. Quite a varied taste of somewhat obscure stuff- certainly stuff you wouldn't get in HMV or other big retailers such as.... oh wait it's only HMV left thesedays. Anyhow, I already have a number of the discs on offer so picked up a rather colourful disc.:
Tambourine Dream... no tracklisting whatsoever and box was sealed
Any other day I'd probably be in 2minds, should I buy it, nice cover- good name but weighed against the fact it could contain absolutely anything. Then I noticed the name pocketknife whom I only knew previously from a remix of Jose Gonzalez.

Glad I went with my instincts- stuck it on soon as I got back to my car and found tracks by
Iron & Wine, Jose Gonzalez, John Lennon, Bruce Springsteen all remixed by Pocketknife and sidekick Cousin Cole. Not listened to CD in full yet- but what I have heard is right up my street.
Turns out CD was released over a year ago- never claimed my finger was on the pulse did I?

Here is my favourite, minimal (not minimal techno, just minimal) beats and tweaks (not beeps) to bring this timeless classic a new audience.
Neil Young- My My, Hey Hey (Into the Black).... Cousin Coles into the Blue remix

Hope you enjoy as much as I do- get the album if you can. No longer available on there website or Juno from what I can see, Urban Outfitters is only place I'm aware of personally.

KRL- Recession Beat

Without Doubt my favourite track track of the summer. Heard it originally on a mix by the (almighty) Revenge and thought it was about 30 years old on first listen before finding out details slowly as they were leaked. I dare anyone not to tap their feet to this, I finally managed to get my grubby hands on the vinyl release last week thankfully.

KRL- Recession Beat

currently working on my ripping techniques- so will hopefully have it uploaded for all to share shortly if your interested.

Eine Kleine Nacht Musik

Eine Kleine Nacht Musik translates as 'A Little Night Music according to wikipedia anyhow.
Must admit I'm guilty of subscribing to too many blogs and continually buying music- so much infact that I've got too much to listen to and it terribly organised I sometimes hear something then can't find it again for months if ever.
Stumbled across this track which I assume was posted on a blog previously (sorry but don't know who.) On first listen this track reminds me of the aptly named holy fuck... turns out they are a band from UK.

check them here: einekleinemusik

hard to define- but I don't care much for genres to be honest! hope you enjoy anyhow.

Kings of Convenience

After writing the title for the last post, couldn't help but share this favourite of mine.
Probably my favourite band in the world. Kings of Convenience who thankfully announced they have a new album due out before the end of the year.
This track has been a favourite of mine since I first heard it- before I was even aware of the original infact. No doubt fans of the original will say this can't match the original but personally I enjoy it and thats what matters here- selfish I know.
A live cover recorded in Rome several years back- I could never get bored of this song.
